What he explain is true but I donÂt think itÂs the way to make fertilizer. I need to dissolve all my mixture to make a concentrated solution then dilute when use it. I sent an email to seller and he explains that he bought it from a manufacture because the calcium compounds are hygroscopic so grinding it with other compounds would clog machine so the ingredients are just blended. So the first spoon you may get just N, the second spoon you get only P and the third spoon you get all K. Do you see the problems? If you shake the mixture you will see flake is at the top, grain is in the middle and powder is at the bottom (or whatever position maybe). ItÂs not a uniform mixture like we see brand name fertilizers. When I see it: "what the hell is this"? Is it a fade or homemade fertilizer? ItÂs is a mixture of coarse flakes, grain and powder. I want to try MSU so I bought few pounds of it from a reliable source. What Julie said is totally true and I expect that many people may have the same problem but they didnÂt recognize it.

I guess that is a long winded way of saying I think the maker of the MSU formula could be the problem with the problem :>) per gallon every watering except when I am busy and then I use that as the flush time. I now get my MSU from "he who can't be named on this forum" and it is the same color as the one from Kelly's Korner and I don't have to add the tap water anymore. I eventually figured it out and once a month started adding half tap water to my fert water and the leaves all returned to normal. After several months of use I noticed the change in some of my phals when the new leaves emerged. Last year at an orchid show I bought 5#'s of MSU from a reputable orchid vendor and with his formulation, the dry particles were "pink". I used both types - at first the MSU for tap and when I switched to rain water, bought the appropriate MSU.

My original MSU came from Kelly's Korner and I was very happy with it. I have NEVER experienced the problems of julietessler or tcuser but did experience leaves on many of my apple green leaved phals that appeared to have the typical deficiency showing in the leaves. I believe MSU is just a formulation of fertilizer and have also found out that much depends on the maker of the formula. Thank you for any and all advice, guidance, and help. Fertilizer recommendations would also be appreciated! Is there specific action I should be taking? I can replace the medium and I imagine Superthrive and a root booster would all be good additions. Another bulbophyllum has small root buds, but they have blackened as well.Īlmost all root tips among my orchid collection seem to have taken some degree of damage. My odorontissimum and lashiochilum seem to be taking a lot of damage - their root tips are blackened and back bulbs seem to be losing leaves pretty agressively. I am seeing other signs of damage in a few of my bulbophyllums. Their roots look stunted/burnt and damaged. While the largest seems to be surviving, 1 has died and I am afraid for the 2 others. I had 4 adorable paph concolor seedlings doing very well in a compot. I switched to an MSU formula and it seems to be killing my really young guys and burning off roots of my older guys.
